About World Language Classes
The world language classes offered by the PTO at Willard are meant to be introductory language classes. Your student will not be fluent at the end of this class.
Instructors will introduce a variety of vocabulary words and verbs to the students over the school year with the goal of students being able to have short conversations by the end of April.
Class Sizes
- World Language classes are open to students in grades 1-4 (see class lists below for details)
- Classes will be capped at a maximum of sixteen (16) students.
- A minimum of eleven (11) students are needed to conduct the class.
- If fewer than eleven (11) students enroll in a particular class, that class may be canceled or combined with another class.
- If a class is sold out when you try to register and you would like to be added to the waitlist, please see the waitlist directions below.
Class Costs
- Registration is $215 per student (includes all materials/supplies needed for the class)

2024-25 Class Schedule
- Classes meet one day per week during the school year between October 1, 2024 - April 24, 2025
- No classes are held on D90 non-attendance days
- No classes are held on D90 non-attendance days
- Each class is 50 minutes at lunch/recess
- Students will eat their lunch in their World Language classroom during the class.

BEFORE YOU REGISTER
Student ID
You will need your learner's Student ID to register. It is listed at the top of your PowerSchool account in the Grades and Attendance tab if you login on your computer.

Behavior Issues:
If students have behavior issues during World Language classes, they will be handled as follows:
- 1st Incident: World Language instructor will issue a verbal warning to the student and the World Language coordinator will email a written notice to the parents/guardians.
- 2nd Incident: World Language instructor will issue a verbal warning to the student and the World Language coordinator will email a written notice to the parents/guardians that will need to be signed by parents/guardians and returned to the World Language instructor.
- 3rd Incident: Parents/guardians will be notified by email that their student has been dismissed from World Language class for the remainder of the school year without a refund.

- Please note: The waitlist does not guarantee your child a spot in a World Language class. We will do our best but are limited by instructor & classroom availability.

- If you or someone you know is interested in teaching a language next school year (2025-26), please email [email protected] with the language you are interested in teaching, as well as your experience teaching elementary school-age children.
- We are always looking to add additional languages, especially Italian, German, Japanese & Mandarin. Classes are typically taught at lunch/recess (from 11:30 am - 12:20 pm) or after school (from 3:15 - 4:05 pm).
