About World Language Classes
The world language classes offered by the PTO at Willard are meant to be introductory language classes. Your student will not be fluent at the end of this class.
Instructors will introduce a variety of vocabulary words and verbs to the students over the school year with the goal of students being able to have short conversations by the end of April.
Class Sizes
- World Language classes are open to students in grades 1-4 (see class lists below for details)
- Classes will be capped at a maximum of sixteen (16) students.
- A minimum of twelve (12) students are needed to conduct the class.
- If fewer than twelve (12) students enroll in a particular class, that class may be canceled or combined with another class.

Class Costs
- Registration is $200 or $215 per student based on the number of classes (Thursday classes meet 2 fewer times)
- includes all materials/supplies needed for the class

2025-26 Class Schedule
- Classes meet one day per week during the school year between October 7, 2024 - April 30, 2025
- No classes are held on D90 non-attendance days
- Each class is 50 minutes at lunch/recess
- Students will eat their lunch in their World Language classroom during the class.
- Classes will begin the week of October 1

Student ID #: You will need your child’s D90 student ID # to register. It is listed at the top of your PowerSchool account in the Grades and Attendance tab if you log in on your desktop computer.

Behavior Issues:
By registering your student for this World Language class, you are agreeing to the following behavior policy — if student misbehaves or disrupts their World Language class, it will be handled as follows:
- 1st incident: Instructor will give a verbal warning to student and email a warning to the parent/guardian.
- 2nd incident: Instructor will give a verbal warning to student, and a note will be emailed to the parent/guardian. The note must be signed by the parent/guardian or an email reply must be sent in order for the student to return to the World Language class.
- 3rd incident: Instructor will verbally let the student know that they should no longer attend the World Language class for the remainder of the school year, and an email will be sent to the parent/guardian informing them that their child has been dismissed from the World Language class (without a refund).
- Note: if any student physically harms another student during a World Language class, the student will be sent directly to the Principal’s office to be disciplined per D90 behavior policy / handbook.

- Please note: the waitlist does NOT guarantee your child a spot in a World Language class. We will do our best but our limited by instructor and classroom availability.

INTERESTED IN TEACHING A LANGUAGE?
- If you or someone you know is interested in teach a world language next school year (2026-2027), please email [email protected] with the language you are interested in teaching as well as your experience teaching elementary school age children.
- We are always looking to add additional languages — especially Italian, German, Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean. Classes are typically taught on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays during Lunch/Recess (11:30am-12:30pm) from October-April. Free, full background check (including fingerprints) is required.
